Checkpoints and tips
Security opens at 4:00 a.m. in Terminal A and 4:15 a.m. in Terminal B. Only ticketed passengers may pass the checkpoint, unless they are using Gateside. CLEAR is available at both checkpoints, and CLEAR runs Sunday through Friday, 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Terminal A.
- CLEAR offers in-person TSA PreCheck enrollment at the Terminal B checkpoint, Sunday through Friday, 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 4:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is needed. SJC does not have its own TSA PreCheck enrollment center.
- Gateside by TSA PreCheck launched on October 2, 2026. Approved PreCheck members can enter the post-security terminals without a boarding pass for one calendar day. Apply at tsa.gov/gateside. The program has no extra fee, and it is limited to 75 passes per day per checkpoint.
- Gateside visitors cannot use the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID lanes, so use a standard PreCheck lane with your ID.
