How delays work at HNL

A ground stop holds flights bound for HNL at their origin airports. A ground delay program spaces arrivals out so the airport is not overloaded. Departure and arrival delay messages describe the average wait the FAA expects. None of these tell you whether your own flight is late, so always check your airline as well.

Local tips

  • The Wiki Wiki shuttle is free and runs often, so there is no need to walk long distances between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on foot.
  • If you are flying an interisland flight, check the terminal on your ticket. Interisland flights can use Terminals 1 or 3.
  • Priority Pass members should check the IASS Hawaii Lounge hours, because it closes at 6 p.m.
  • The Garden Court area in Terminal 2 has gardens between the concourses and is a quieter place to wait before your flight.
