Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) terminal guide

Asheville, North Carolina KAVL #103 US airport by passengers

How AVL is laid out and how to move between buildings.

Terminals at AVL

Ticket lobby

The north ticket lobby is where you check in. Ride app and taxi drop-offs are at the curb in front of the lobby.

North Concourse

The new North Concourse and TSA checkpoint opened in 2025. Arriving passengers deplane here, and a lactation suite is located post-security in the North Concourse.

Baggage claim and rental cars

The partial new baggage claim opened on April 17, 2026. The new rental car counters sit next to it, and the Guest Services Center is in baggage claim.

Moving between terminals

AVL is a small airport, so walks are short. Construction changes the walking paths from time to time, so follow the signs. Arriving passengers who need a rental car follow a marked outdoor pathway from the ticket lobby to the rental car counters next to the new baggage claim.
