How delays work at AUS

A ground stop holds flights bound for AUS at their origin airports. A ground delay program spaces arrivals out so the airport is not overloaded. Departure and arrival delay messages describe the average wait the FAA expects. None of these tell you whether your own flight is late, so always check your airline as well.

Local tips

  • The Mobility Tram pick-up point is on the airport's digital map. The tram runs from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, according to the airport's travel tips page.
  • The Economy lots are the closest surface parking, and the shuttle runs to the terminal. Use the shuttle for the lowest-cost option.
  • Parking is cheaper in the Blue Garage than in the Red Garage for daily use, but the Blue Garage closes overnight from October 23 to 8 a.m.
  • Allegiant and Frontier now use the main terminal, so the old South Terminal shuttle no longer applies.
  • The lounge situation is tight at peak times such as SXSW and F1, so arrive early for lounge access.
