Parking at Sacramento International Airport (SMF)
Sacramento, California KSMF #36 US airport by passengers
Your options for leaving a car at SMF, and how to avoid paying more than you need to.
Where to park at SMF
SMF parking is owned by the airport and has four main options. The airport warns that lots can fill and close without notice, most often the garage and the Economy Lot.
Garage 1 (covered terminal garage)
Closest to the terminals with pedestrian bridges to both, so no shuttle is needed. The airport posts a daily maximum of $21 per 24 hours as of 2026.
Garage 2 (under construction)
A new six-story garage with 5,537 spaces next to Terminal B, with covered connections to both terminals. The airport lists it as opening in fall 2026. The county has approved a one-time rate adjustment when it opens, raising maximum daily rates to $28 for garages, $19 for the Daily Lot and $14 for Economy. A parking reservation system is planned for 2027.
Daily Lot
Walkable to the terminals, with a shuttle every 15 to 20 minutes. The airport posts a daily maximum of $14 as of 2026, before the planned increase.
Economy lots (East, West and South)
The farthest from the terminals, with no pedestrian walkway. Shuttles run every 25 to 30 minutes and the airport says to allow up to 60 minutes from parking to the terminal. The posted daily maximum is $12 as of 2026, before the planned increase.
- When the Economy Lot is full, the airport directs drivers to the Daily Lot at the posted Daily Lot rate.
- There is a free cell phone waiting area on airport property for drivers picking up arriving passengers.
- Rates are changing when Garage 2 opens, so check the current figures on the airport parking page before you go.
