MSP at a glance

MSP has two terminals about a mile apart: Terminal 1 (Lindbergh, 4300 Glumack Drive) with Concourses A to G, and Terminal 2 (Humphrey, 7150 Humphrey Drive) with Concourse H. According to the airport's own airline list, eleven airlines use Terminal 1 and four use Terminal 2.

The METRO Blue Line light rail stops at both terminals. It runs about 25 minutes to the Warehouse District in downtown Minneapolis and about 12 minutes to the Mall of America. Travel between the two airport stations is free around the clock.

Blue Line trains were replaced by buses from June 29 to August 19, 2026 for track and signal work, and train service returned on August 20. Metro Transit has said another extended Blue Line shutdown is planned for 2027, so check Metro Transit before you rely on the train.

Main airlines: Delta Air Lines runs the hub in Terminal 1, where American, United, Alaska and several international airlines also operate. Sun Country, Southwest, Frontier and Icelandair use Terminal 2.

Terminal 1 (Lindbergh)

Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air France, Alaska, American, Delta, Denver Air Connection, Discover, KLM, Lufthansa, United and WestJet. Delta uses Concourses A, B, C, D, F and G; American, United, Alaska, Air Canada and Aer Lingus are on Concourse E; Air France, KLM, Lufthansa and Discover are on Concourse G.

Terminal 2 (Humphrey)

Frontier, Icelandair, Southwest and Sun Country (per the airport's list). Other sources also list airlines such as Allegiant, Condor and JetBlue here, so confirm on your itinerary. Gates are on Concourse H.

Moving between terminals

The Blue Line connects the two terminals and there is no charge to ride between them. Trains run between the terminals around the clock, about every 15 minutes. The Terminal 1 station is below the Red and Blue ramps, reached by the tram from the Tram Level, and the Terminal 2 station is on the north side of the Orange Ramp. You will need to clear security again at the other terminal.

Getting to and from MSP

  • Rail

    METRO Blue Line

    Serves both terminals. Trains run every 15 to 20 minutes from about 5 a.m. to midnight, with some southbound trips from 3:30 a.m. About 25 minutes to the Warehouse District and 12 minutes to Mall of America. Buy tickets at station machines or in the Metro Transit app.

  • Bus

    Metro Transit Route 54 and other buses

    City buses stop at the Terminal 1 Transit Center on Level 1 of the Silver Ramp. MVTA Route 495 also stops there, and Jefferson Lines intercity buses use the same area. There is no Metro Transit bus stop at Terminal 2; SouthWest Transit serves both terminals.

  • Rideshare

    Ground Transportation Center

    At Terminal 1, Uber and Lyft pick up in the Ground Transportation Center on Level 1 of the Green and Gold ramps, reached from the Tram Level. At Terminal 2, pick-up is on the second level of the Purple ramp.

  • Taxi

    Taxi stands

    At Terminal 1, taxis are reached via the Tram Level with a starter booth one level up. At Terminal 2, taxis are at the Ground Transport Center on the Purple Ramp ground level. The airport lists average fares of $39 to $49 to downtown Minneapolis and $31 to $38 to downtown St. Paul.

Tips for MSP

  • Check which terminal your airline uses before you leave. Terminal 2 has no Metro Transit bus stop, so for city buses you need to take the free train to Terminal 1.
  • The Terminal 2 checkpoints are closed between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
  • The Mall of America is about 12 minutes by train. Allow time to get there and back if you have a layover.
  • If you arrive without a REAL ID, TSA ConfirmID is available for a $45 fee as of February 1, 2026, but it is not guaranteed to work.
