How delays work at ILM

A ground stop holds flights bound for ILM at their origin airports. A ground delay program spaces arrivals out so the airport is not overloaded. Local tips

  • The terminal curb dates from 1989 and was designed for far fewer passengers. Expect congestion at peak times until the new curb opens in spring 2027.
  • Pet relief areas are on either side of the entrance on the grass, and there is an outdoor pet relief area after security.
  • Family rooms and nursing areas are located in the restrooms before and after security.
  • An airfield ramp project and an outbound baggage project are under way in 2026; the airport expects to extend the terminal ramp ahead of the next expansion.
