DFW at a glance

DFW is one of the largest airports in the country by land area, and it is laid out as two long rows of terminals facing each other across a central spine road. Terminals A, B, C and E are domestic; Terminal D is the international terminal and holds most non-American airlines.

What makes it easy to use is the Skylink, a free train inside the secure area that connects all five terminals in a loop. Once you are through security you can go from any gate to any other without leaving the secure zone. Most connections take well under an hour even though the airport feels huge.

Main airlines: American Airlines uses DFW as its largest hub and is by far the dominant carrier. Other airlines, including international carriers, are concentrated in Terminal D.

  • American Airlines flights to the same city can leave from different terminals, so always check the gate before heading to security.
  • Spring and summer storms are the most common cause of delay; the on-time table on this page lets you compare carriers.
