PIT at a glance

Pittsburgh International opened a new $1.7 billion landside terminal on November 18, 2025. It replaced the 1992 landside building and retired the underground people mover (tram) that used to carry passengers to the gates. Information on older websites that mentions the tram is out of date.

Today ticketing is on the top level and arrivals, baggage claim and ground transportation are below. After a single 12-lane security checkpoint, passengers walk across a Skybridge and tunnel into the center core of the existing airside building, where Concourses A, B, C and D meet.

The airside building was renovated alongside the new terminal. Because airline gate assignments can shift as that work continues, check your airline app or the flight status page before heading to a concourse.

Main airlines: American and Southwest carry the most passengers. The airport's airline directory also lists Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, Breeze, British Airways, Delta, Frontier, Icelandair, JetBlue, Southern Airways, Sun Country and United, plus vacation charter companies.

Terminals

Landside Terminal (new, opened November 2025)

Check-in and security on the upper level; arrivals, baggage claim, the Welcome Point meeting area and ground transportation on the levels below. Rental car desks are in a Customer Service Building that connects to the ground floor of the terminal.

Airside Terminal, center core

The Skybridge from security leads down to the center core, which has shops and restaurants and is the hub for all four concourses.

Concourse A

The airport's flight status board shows Southwest and United flights at A gates.

Concourse B

The flight status board shows American Airlines flights at B gates.

Concourse C

The smaller concourse; international arrivals pass through it. The Club PIT is near Gate C1. Confirm your gate with your airline for transatlantic flights.

Concourse D

The flight status board shows Delta flights at D gates.

Moving between terminals

There is no longer a train between landside and airside. After security you walk about 160 feet across the Skybridge and through the tunnel, then take escalators or elevators down to the center core and walk out along your concourse. Connecting passengers stay airside.

Getting to and from PIT

  • Bus

Pittsburgh Regional Transit 28X Airport Flyer

Serves the airport, Robinson Towne Center, Downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland seven days a week. In the new terminal the bus stop is on the ground level near Door 9, and a ticket vending machine is between Doors 8 and 9. PRT lists service about every 30 minutes and a $2.75 fare that is valid for three hours with unlimited transfers. A $7 day pass is also available. Credit cards work at the vending machine, not on the bus.

  • Rideshare

    Uber and Lyft

The airport says to meet your driver on the first level across the commercial curb from Door 7. Uber describes a rideshare pickup zone across from baggage claim with numbered stalls, so watch for your driver's message with a stall number.

  • Taxi and shuttle

Approved taxi, limousine and shuttle operators

The airport publishes a list of approved services. Taxi operators it lists include Pittsburgh Taxi, River Transportation and zTrip.

  • Hotel shuttle

    Hyatt Regency shuttle

The on-airport Hyatt Regency lost its people-mover connection to the terminal when the new building opened, and a shuttle service was arranged to link the hotel and terminal. Confirm current pick-up arrangements with the hotel.

  • Paratransit

    ACCESS

Shared-ride, advance-reservation paratransit within Allegheny County; the airport pick-up point is outside Door 7 on the ground level. Reserve at least two weeks ahead.

Tips for PIT

  • Ignore any guidance that mentions the PIT tram or people mover. It no longer operates.
  • Make sure you head to the new terminal: drivers should follow the new signs, because the old terminal roads are closed.
  • If you park in the Shuttle Lot, remember it has no walking route to the terminal; allow time for the shuttle both ways.
  • Meet arriving passengers at the Welcome Point on the arrivals level between the north and south terraces.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pittsburgh airport still have a train between the terminal and gates?
