Memphis, Tennessee KMEM #67 US airport by passengers
At 2491 Winchester Road in Memphis, Tennessee, south of downtown near the Tennessee-Mississippi line.
The airport was renamed Frederick W. Smith International Airport, after the FedEx founder, in a ceremony on August 11, 2026. The three-letter code is still MEM, and the airport says signs and branding are being updated in phases while flights, check-in and baggage claim continue as scheduled.
Passengers check in at one of three ticketing lobbies (A, B and C) in a single terminal building, then all fly from one concourse. Concourse B was rebuilt and reopened in 2022 with 23 gates, and the airport says all commercial flights now use it. Concourses A and C are no longer used for airline service, and the A Concourse has been demolished.
The terminal building itself is next in line. The Terminal Modernization and Seismic Program is underway, with a rebuilt departures-level roadway, a new administration and baggage inspection building and a bigger security checkpoint planned. The airport website is the place to check for current curb, tunnel and walkway changes.
Main airlines: The airport lists Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, United and Southern Airways Express. Southern Airways Express flies from the Signature Flight Support building rather than the main terminal. The airport is also the home of the FedEx World Hub.
We are waiting for the next FAA update. Check your airline for the status of a specific flight.
