Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood is a compact airport with four color-coded terminals, and it is popular with leisure travelers heading to the Caribbean and to cruise ships at Port Everglades.
The biggest thing to know is that the terminals do not all connect after security. Only some terminal pairs are linked airside, so plan any change of terminal before you leave the gate area.
Main airlines: JetBlue is a focus city here, and Southwest is a major carrier in Terminal 1. Spirit, Delta, United and many other airlines also serve the airport, with service to the Caribbean and Latin America.

After security, Terminals 3 and 4 are linked by a pedestrian bridge, and a free airside shuttle bus runs between the terminals every few minutes. There is no secure connection between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, so moving between them usually means leaving security and going through it again. Landside, the free Sunshine Shuttle links Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Connects the airport with downtown Fort Lauderdale. The one-way fare is about $2, and you can buy it on your phone.
The station is at Dania Beach, about three miles away. A free Tri-Rail airport shuttle bus runs during train hours, roughly every 15 to 20 minutes. Tri-Rail has no direct train to the terminals, and the station ticket kiosk is open on weekdays only.
Uber, Lyft and taxis pick up at signed areas on the Level 1 arrivals side. A ride to downtown Fort Lauderdale is roughly $15 to $25, depending on traffic.
Courtesy shuttles run between the terminals and the Rental Car Center 24 hours a day, every day. Look for the signs on the lower level (Arrivals).
